Program Description:  A unique, waterfront wellness program offered year-round in San Diego, California and from Spring through Fall in Chicago, Illinois.  This seasonal program was specifically designed for clients who expressed an interest in a stress-reduction program beyond the clinical office environment.  These busy clients were also seeking an alternative to expensive vacation destinations to escape from the stress of their daily lives.  So rather than booking out-of-town trips to spas or wellness retreats, Best Self Clinic members now enjoy an outdoor retreat experience close to home!

Program Methods:  Each client, couple, or group who registers for this program will have the opportunity to meet with Dr. Jones once or twice per week to enjoy an enriching combination of wellness services on Chicago's lakefront, nature trails, and grassy areas for meditation and relaxation training sessions.  Empirically-supported methods of clinical care are introduced in a relaxed, casual manner.  Dr. Jones first assesses for the risk factors that contribute to mental, physical, and emotional stress that damage health and block pleasure.  Once individuals are mindful (intentionally aware) of personal risk factors for stress, Dr. Jones then teaches each client how to implement protective factors that counteract stress in order to promote well-being, peace of mind, and pleasurable life experiences.  This program focuses on skills training to help people cope with life stressors by learning new behaviors and positive thinking patterns.

Program Goal:  To teach each client how to reduce stress in the mind and body using a variety of holistic, therapeutic methods in a natural, serene setting.  Each client will develop expertise about the mind/body connection to reduce stress by learning how to 'shift' from using the Sympathetic Nervous System (Fight or Flight=Stress) to the Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest, Restore, Replenish=No Stress).  Mastering this technique alleviates toxic stress from multiple body systems.  Quiet the chatter.  Think more clearly.  Feel more relaxed.
